Kids no cash here we can live beyond our means fall in debt so we can have those shiny things Use it up and throw it out develop it and cut it down grownups play and let you pay

White Robe 

I saw a man he was giving away white robes clean robes   He said “They’re free take ‘em from me white robes clean robes 

A girl drew near and began to scrub her own attire to be as bright in her distress, she up and left  to find a stain that she could clean

I was gazing at a red sunrise blood red cobalt filled my eyes  And as I went about my day the colors turned an average grey 

I remember the wonder years how fascinating it all appeared and as time marched onward I could feel the spark leave from my heart

I remember the wedding plans I held the ring I was best man Their learning about each other grew ordinary used and worn 

Venerating trophies more than a life lived in accord  The sparkle wooed their hearts preoccupation dimmed their vision

Last Leaf on the Tree                     

As the older get older and the younger forget The grey years mean knowledge and should mean respect I’d love to share my life and wisdom with them But I am the last leaf on the tree, no one takes me seriously 

The bones are older, hair grey what remains  People sidestep you and go their own way I understand It’s so busy these days Still walk in these shoes, I want to walk closer to you
